My artwork consists mostly of found materials and their creation in or with nature. They are nature-based, intuitive, ritual artworks assisting our bond with the earth and explore the unified archetype of Trickster-Shaman. Processes include, but are not limited to, photography, beadwork, driftwood, encaustics, murals, tilework, leatherwork, and the creation of ritual-transitional objects. Testimonials: “Absolute magnificence. Beyond words. I’ve never been this affected by a person’s work – and remember, I live less than an hour from the greatest museums in the world.” - Dave W., Naturalist & Educator “Mary wishes to express her innate sense of what is right; beyond obviously being intelligent, creative, aesthetically sensitive, is in a wonderful way totally honest and pure in her wish to make meaningful imagery; has a desire to stimulate and serve the energetic and intelligent enhancement of others; is grounded and very practical about how she lives her life; and, senses there is a commodification of art that can be culturally toxic – that the role of art and the artist is in flux and can be redefined.” - David H., Artist & Educator Pricing: Individual artwork and commissions: Please call to inquire on pieces for sale. Most work is created on commission.

Ritual-Transitional Object Testamonial: “Raspirit: During an experience of deep crisis, a wounded crow entered my life – and I became a ‘Crow-Mama’ for several months, a most magical experience. Because she came with the sunniest spring, summer, and fall, in memory, I called her Ra. When she one day disappeared/left, I experienced a grief I had never known before; My soul was in despair. Ra became Raspirit - and Mary’s Medicine was a beautiful leather hand-sewn pouch filled with feathers I had received and collected from Ra. The feathers were flown halfway around the world – from Norway to California – and as Medicine we traced its journey across the planet back again. Carrying this Medicine around my neck and close to my heart for weeks – and months – helped me focus on what RaSpirit’s gift was all about: The gift of magic; I learned to fly. View the video |
